Access

There are two routes to the reserve. One of them is open to motor vehicles and turns north from the road between Eyrarbakki and Þórlákshöfn, past the farm Sólvangur. There is a car park at Stakkholt. There are plans to make a footpath along the river bank from a car park by the Óseyrarbrú bridge.

Some words of advice
• Protect the vegetation and do not frighten the birds
• Keep to marked footpaths
• Beware of bogs and waterholes
• Do not drive off the road
• Hunting is prohibited in the reserve
